Chronicle Grime - "Career Cats Get Tiger Suits"

chronicle grime - "career cats get tiger suits" (stream-only)
From the compilation Anagram Jam. The guys behind B-Music/Finders Keepers seem to have unearthed some real gems this time around. These seriously hardcore crate-diggers include David Holmes, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Andy Votel and more. This time around, they've put together a compilation credited to Tandy Love & Mad Smooth, which features numerous gems (psych, surf, Turkish, etc) unearthed from who-knows-where. They've made it tricky though, and scrambled around the names of the artists and songs so you have no idea who the artists actually are. You get "bands" like Vandal Cock, Ray Wun, Dizcoa, and so on. Definitely check this out if you're into stuff like this. There are some great songs on here.

Les Fleur De Lys - "Circles"

Les Fleur de Lys were a British psych-rock band from the '60's. Very poppy, catchy sing-a-long mod-rock. Their keyboardist went on to join Jefferson Starship. Good music for a sunny day. Recommended if you like The Beatles, The Pretty Things, etc.

Flower Travellin Band - "Satori Pt. II"

Some amazing Japanese psych-rock, released on Atlantic records in 1971. Touches of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. This record is HEAVY, and seemingly ahead of its time. Original copies of this on vinyl still go for a good amount of money on eBay. They've since reunited, and released a new record in 2008. It is a vast departure from their earlier sound (the stuff on their official Myspace page doesn't even touch what they were doing years ago). As of right now, this album is not available digitally, and is only available as an import, but you should really check it out. It's pretty incredible.

Chubby Checker - "Goodbye Victoria"

My friend Doug put me up on this relatively unknown release from Chubby Checker, most well known for his hit "The Twist". Rumor has it that, when the general public's taste in music veered away from dance craze hits such as "The Twist", Chubby decided to go with the times and record a more experimental, somewhat PSYCHEDELIC record called Chequered. The record as a whole is great, and you'd honestly never even guess that it was a Chubby Checker record. If you're curious, check it out.
